How long have you lived in
Eastbourne?
I’ve been a resident here for the
past 30 years after my parents
moved here and bought a guest
house. I’ve lived in a few areas of
the town but predominantly near
the beach along the Seaside Road
area and in the harbour where my
family and I have lived for the past
4 years.
Where is your favourite
breakfast place in Eastbourne?
If the weather is good and we
are lucky enough to get in before
it’s full, we quite enjoy the Beach
Deck. Lovely views and a decent
menu, also only a fifteen minute
walk along the beach from where
we live. When it’s a bit too chilly
to eat outside we often go to Bill’s
in the town centre who also have
a great menu and they are always
great with our 3 year old.
Where is your favourite place for
dinner?
Going out to dinner is one of our
faves, we’re lucky as well because
Eastbourne continues to have a
really good choice for a small
town. One of our favourite places
is Flamenco. So many dishes to
choose from, a great variety of

they get booked up really quickly.
Where do you go for drinks?
Always been a fan of a pub crawl
and there are several routes with
good pubs in Eastbourne. South
Street is great, Old Town and
Pevensey also have a good
selection and most will host live
music or sport depending on what
sort of night out you are looking
for. I’d recommend Bibendum at
the top of South Street to kick a
night off. Good choice of beers,
wines, spirits and a nice
atmosphere.
Favourite place in Eastbourne for a
date night?
As mentioned earlier, Flamenco
is a lovely intimate venue, we
also like the Thai Brasserie in The
Enterprise Centre. La Locanda for
Italian and Cru for it’s
excellent menu and wine list. All
of these recommendations offer a
nice ambience with soft lighting
and superb service to accompany
some excellent food and beverage
options.
Where do you take people when
they come to visit?
When our friends visit, we nearly
always go out to eat and with most
of us having young families, kid
friendly restaurants are pretty
much essential. Luckily they are in
abundance in Eastbourne, but it’s
normally a toss up between a pub
lunch or a burger bar.
The Yew Tree in Arlington is one
of our favourites, lovely home
cooked menu, big outdoor area for
kids and the staff are fantastic and
it is worth the short drive. We also
often visit 7Bone in town. Again
great service and who doesn’t like
burgers, shakes and a good
selection of sides?
What is your perfect day off in
Eastbourne?
Living by the coast the best days
are when the weather is warm
and sunny. Heading to the beach,
walking from the harbour along
the seafront on a sunny day and
perhaps popping into the spalsh
park at Fort Fun, with my
daughter of course. Or kayaking
from the Wish Tower around the
pier and back with a bit of lunch
thrown in at midday and an ice
cream for the walk home.
