which was so lovely as it was
warm and the view was
beautiful, including the
picturesque, prefectly blue
Eastbourne sea.
As you can see from the
pictures the
afternoon tea is served on a
three tiered cake stand which is
the only way it should be.
When we have
afternoon tea we always go in
plate order from top to bottom,
except at The Hydro. We go for
the scones first -
buttered, then add the cream
with the jam on top. Then on
to the sandwich plate and
followed by cakes - lots of
yummy cakes.
✩ Scone rules - butter,
cream and then jam ✩
The sandwich selection, is as
expected, very traditional. The
selection includes a cucumber
option (you can’t get any more
traditional that a cucmber
sandwich), chedder cheese,
Sussex ham and smoked
salmon. All of the sandwiches
were great and we love that
they have a selection available
full of our favourite fillings.
The scones are freshly made
and come out nice and warm.
The ones that we had on this
occassion were raisin and they
were baked to perfection.
Now onto what we call the
naughty plate - we love that
afternoon tea includes small
finger sized cakes. You get a
little bit of everything, which is
more that enough, as we’re not
sure we’ve ever managed to
finish off a whole afternoon tea
without taking home a doggy bag.
The cake choices on this day were a
mini chcolate eclair, fairy cake and
a fruit tart. You just can’t got wrong
with these cakes. The fruit tart was
an absolute favourite.
This afternoon tea also comes with
the choice of tea or coffee. You
are able to choose what kind of tea
you would like. We went for and
English breakfast tea and a pot of
coffee.
You can also add a glass of
prosecco to you afetrenoon tea
which we 100% suggest you do.
The cost of the traditional
afternoon tea is £16.95 per person
and with a glass of prosecco it
comes to £25.95 per person.
We’ve had the prosecco and it was
delicious.
The Hydro Hotel also do a vegan
afternoon tea available which is
£15.95 per person.
