I have been a HUGE fan of Nelson Coffee Co since
day dot and if you have been reading Eastbourne
Lifestyle for a while now you will already know how
obsessed I am and that I can normally be found there
on a Saturday morning eating eggs benny of whatever
the latest special is (wait till you see the special
i’m writing about OMG). So I thought, as I go most
weekends, I should probably write a review about
how amazing it is so that you can all go and enjoy
Nelson’s for yourself.
Firstly no matter how busy Nelson’s gets over the
weekend, the staff are always friendly and seem to do
things with such ease.
Whether or not they mean to, they’ve brought
London to Eastbourne and have done it fabulously.
For the purpose of the review I tried new breakfast
dishes, so you won’t hear about the most perfect eggs
benny or the best veggie breakfast (I have dreams
about the veggie breakfast, it’s that good) in
Eastbourne. But these dishes are equally as good.
I went for the Mac & Cheese special and the
breakfast board and shared them both - note - do not
share these ever - too good to share.
The Breakfast board includes bubble ‘n’ squeak cake,
smashed avocado, free range egg, coconut milk
porridge, Nelson tomato relish and 100% orange
juice. First up let’s talk price - you get all of this for
£7.95 - which is an absolute bargain if ever there
was one. Secondly the bubble ‘n squeak cake is
sooooooooo good - this is also in the eggs benny - in
place of an English muffin. The egg and avocado hit
the spot and the porridge - wow! I didn’t think it was

possible to become obsessed with a porridge but the
porridge included in the breakfast board is out of this
world delicious. It can only be described as a holiday
in a breakfast bowl. Each and every single bite has a
different flavour to it and we never wanted it to end.
Unfortunately it did, so we had to move on.
Now onto the pièce de résistance - the MAC AND
CHEESE BREAKFAST SPECIAL - yes you read that
correctly pasta for breakfast and we had to full cap it
all because it deserves it. What a little weekend treat,
that will take you go to pasta heaven. In this mac and
cheese special you will find chroizo crumb, truffle oil
and a fried free range egg.
Every ingredient went so well together and made the
most amazing flavours. I Particularly loved the fried
egg on top - the mixture of the yolk and cheese was
just incredible.
Now here is a little secret - it might just be better
than my Mum’s mac and cheese. No one else’s mac
and cheese has ever come close to it. But i’m sorry
Mum, whatever Nelson’s mac and cheese secret is -
it’s better than yours. I still love your mac and cheese
though Mum - promise.
If the mac and cheese special is still available when
you go, stop what you’re doing and head to Nelson’s
immediately. Do not read anything else on the menu,
go straight to the till and order it! You can thank us
later.
