You get a selection of dishes
including appetizers, mains
and deserts. It is such a great
way to try a little bit of
everything at a restaurant and
we suggest that you all give it a
go. The Greek meze is also an
absolute bargain. You get
a whole lot of food for just
£19.90 per person.
Included in our meze was the
mixed dips which included
tzatziki, hummus, taramasalata
with warm pitta bread. We also
had a Greek salad. Never un-derestimate
a Greek salad, this
is our go to salad and even
better it comes with so much
feta cheese.
Zamponotiropitakia - to you
and me it’s deep fried ham,
spinach and cheese filo pas-tries.
The taste of the
zamponotiropitakia was just
amazing. Absolutely loved it,
we could have eaten ten of
those. We then moved onto
Spetsofai which is traditional
Greek sausages, braised in
tomato sauce with peppers.
This was so full of flavour and
absolutely perfect to eat for this
time of year. Next up, the
keftedakia yaourtlou which
was meatballs. The meatballs
were perfectly cooked and so
tasty. And then onto the fried
halloumi which was the best
part because Halloumi is life
and a great addition to any
menu. Everything was
absolutely amazing and
delicious. It couldn’t have been
faulted in any way.
Then onto the mains, we
started with stifado which was
homemade tomato sauce with
beef stew and shallots, served
with potato and carrot mash.
This was so yummy. The mash
was fantastic as was the sauce.
So, so moreish. And lastly we had
souvlaki. We had both pork and
chicken on our skewers and the
meat was perfectly cooked and just
delicious. We love souvlaki because
the meat is just cooked beautifully
and it comes with chips and salad
which makes us very happy.
Now we bet you’re thinking -
they’re not going to have any room
for pudding - but you’re wrong,
oh so wrong. There is always room
for pudding. Greek pudding never
disappoints and if you’ve already
been to Gr/eat before you will
know that. We had kataifi which
is shredded filo with a mixture of
nuts in a honey based syrup served
with ice cream. It was amazing.
Closely followed by revani which
is semolina cake soaked in a honey
based syrup. So so so good. We
could have eaten more of those, but
it’s probably for the best that we
didn’t.
To finish off, we had a Greek
coffee, which if you haven’t tasted
it before, is the best coffee we have
ever had. We’re very much a half a
shot, caramel latte kind of girls and
that’s that, but the Greek coffee is
now at the top of our coffee must
drink list. Absolutely delicious. You
can go and test one out for yourself
at Gr/eat for just £2.25 and we
recommend you do that ASAP as it
will change your coffee life forever.
We had a such a lovely evening at
Gr/eat. We were delighted with
every single thing that we ate, from
the tzatziki to the kataifi. It was
a warm and friendly atmosphere
with some delicious food on offer.
We can’t wait to go back and try
the rest of the menu. We’ve already
decided what we will be having.
