It’s Afternoon Tea Week, which means a full week of cake no excuses needed …
Afternoon Tea Week started yesterday, but we were too busy enjoying the sunshine to post. Whoops! But fear not, we’ve got your Afternoon tea decisions covered. Whether you just want a cream tea with yummy scones or a full blown celebration afternoon tea, we’ve done all the leg work, so you don’t have to.
Here are a few of our tried and tested places for Afternoon Tea in Eastbourne and a few sneaky ones on the outskirts.
1. The Hydro Hotel
If you’re looking for a full blown afternoon tea with prosecco or just a scone and sandwich The Hydro Hotel have got your afternoon desires covered. This place is great value for money and the staff are friendly and very attentive.
You can check out our previous reviews for afternoon tea at The Hydro Hotel here, here and here.
2. The Cavendish Hotel
If you’re looking for an afternoon tea with a view, the The Cavendish Hotel is the one. We have been many times now and we have never been disappointed. The celebration afternoon tea is also pretty impressive.
You can read our previous reviews of The Cavendish Hotel’s afternoon tea here and here.
3. Bill’s
We loved Bill’s afternoon tea – the cake selection is slightly different to you normal afternoon tea, which was a nice change. The bubbles are also yummy – you’ll probably end up ordering another bottle on top of it all.

4. Badgers Tea House
A little hidden gem in Alfriston. You can get your normal cream or an afternoon tea and eat outside in the the sun trap of a garden – if it’s not raining that is – helllloooo British Summer. Another cheap and cheerful place to enjoy, which makes it that little bit less naughty.

5. The Cumberland Hotel
We absolutely loved the afternoon tea at The Cumberland. It had a great views of the seafront, which is great for people watching. Also the celebration afternoon tea was amazing. Great selection of cakes and an extra mini course, which we love, love, loved.

6. Bannatyne’s
A bit further a field – we know – but it’s not that far really. If you go on a sunny day you’ll be able to sit outside in the beautiful gardens with a fabulous view. Watch out for the seagulls though.
