It’s the time of year where we want to go to cosy pubs, have dinner and drinks in front of a fire and just relax and enjoy with good food.
The Lamb Inn In Hooe: What
There is no shortage of pubs in Eastbourne and Bexhill, so when we were invited to head on down to dinner at The Lamb Inn in Hooe, we jumped at the chance, to see what they had to offer and if the food was as good as we have heard. So lets get straight to it and tell you what we thought about dinner at The Lamb Inn.
The Lamb Inn in Hooe: Food
First up we had starters (obviously), there was a lot on offer, but we decided to go for the Duo of pate – which was coarse pork & Madeira pâté and duck liver parfait, served with Bramley apple butter, baby gherkins and rustic bread and it was A.MA.ZING! You need to try it, so unbelievably tasty. We wanted more as soon as we finished, but there were mains to come, so we had to say no to that.
Also we had the Prawn and lobster cocktail – which was great (insert thumbs up emoji here). Both of those starters come highly recommended. We’ve already got our starters order for next time we visit – the box baked camembert, the handmade dough sticks and also the sticky platter which is maple glazed chicken wings, prawns and chorizo in garlic butter, lamb koftas, feta stuffed bell peppers and stone-baked garlic flat bread. It all looks really great. You can check out the starters menu here.
Next up we have the mains. It’s quite a big menu, with lots to choose from, which is great because that means that there is something from everyone, but it also means it’s so hard to make a decision on what to eat. So we got the waitress to help out. She suggested the Hunters chicken and also the 7oz fillet steak. We went with her suggestions and boy were we glad that we did.
The Hunters chicken was fantastic and the waitress was so right – it was so flavoursome and really filling. The chips were cooked perfectly (absolute pet hate when the chips come out undercooked).
Next up – the 7oz fillet steak – which was one of the best steaks that we have had in or around Eastbourne. The steak is served with onion rings, chips and roasted tomato. You get a selection of sauces to choose from – those being – bernaise, blacksticks blue cheese or brandy peppercorn. Whenever cheese is involved – you have to choose the cheese! You also get the option to add extra onions rings, garlic prawns or oven baked garlic and cheese mushrooms. What came with the steak was more than enough, but next time we might just try the mushrooms as they sound delicious.
And now onto the best part of every single meal – pudding! We weren’t sure that we had enough space for pudding, but how would we do a full review without having one? So we opted for the pudding tasting platter. The tasting platter came with a little bit of everything – perfect for sharing – even when full. The tasting platter came with apple crumble, brownie and creme brulee, to mention a few. All of the mini puddings tasted so good, the apple crumble was the favourite and the creme brulee was really great – best one yet.
The Lamb Inn in Hooe: Drinks
The Lamb Inn has a large assortment of local ales, ciders and lagers, so there is something to keep everyone happy. The Rose is really great – so if you’re not a beer fan, do give the wine a go.
The Lamb Inn in Hooe: Verdict
We were very surprised about how much we loved The Lamb Inn. The staff were lovely, the pub was cosy and most importantly the food was absolutely fantastic. Everything from start to finish, we couldn’t fault. The starters were so good we could have eaten 4 more. The steak was one of the best that we have tried and the Hunters chicken was very flavoursome and cooked perfectly. The best part, hands down, has to be the sharing pudding, which you 100% need to try if you go.
{Just look at that steak}
