On Sep 1st – you remember the last warm sunny day? 27 degrees and not a cloud in the sky? Well we were lucky enough to have spent it at Downsview Vineyard.
You may not have heard of Downsview before, but we’ve decided that is because English Vineyards are hidden, so well hidden that they are only unveiled for those that are looking.
What were we doing there? We were there for a five course tasting menu paired with Downsview Wine of course. It was the last Summer supper club of the season and it was amazing. The food was prepared by local catering company Fitzgerald Catering.
We were sat outside overlooking the vineyard, in the beautiful sunshine, whilst our food was cooked, signed, sealed and delivered with wine. We will let the pictures do the talking, but we will however tell you that quackuettes are our new fave thing to eat and the Bacchus wine is our new fave wine to sip outside in the sunshine. Having said that every single wine was stunning and everyone will probably be getting a bottle for Christmas. And as red wine season is coming up we will be grabbing a few bottles of Downsview red for ourselves because it was chefs kiss.
The vineyard is owned by Katy and Toby Spiers and what they produce in this vineyard with such a small amount of humans behind it is absolutely incredible.
Whether you’re a vineyard hopper or just looking for a great way to spend an evening, you need to check it out.
They have a pizza evening Friday – sign us up! This will be held either in the vineyard or upstairs in the speakeasy bar – obvs weather dependant. On Saturdays they are open for pizza, drinks and sharing platters.
