How We Kicked Off December At The View Hotel

How we kicked off December at the View Hotel

We love an afternoon tea, but what’s better than an afternoon tea? A festive afternoon tea. On Dec 1st we kicked off the Christmas season with a festive afternoon tea at The View Hotel. And what a great way to spend  a Sunday afternoon it was.

The tea festive afternoon tea starts with a kir royale cocktail in the Vista bar. We sat next to the window in the Vista bar and the view was lovely. So was the kir royale – which for those of you don’t know what that is – it’s a cocktail with champagne and Crème de Cassis.

The tea comes with a selection of festive open sandwiches. Those being a turkey and cranberry sandwich, a mature cheddar and spiced chutney option, next up a cured salmon and cream cheese and chive and lastly beef watercress and horseradish.

The turkey and cranberry was a favourite, followed by the cheddar and spiced chutney – who doesn’t love cheese and chutney at Christmas. Then the beef, followed by the salmon.

We also loved that they were open sandwiches because it wasn’t as filling as having a whole, which meant more room for scones. Which brings us on to the next tier ….

Which was scones. The scone selection was a sultana scone, which was absolutely delicious. Of course, it comes with strawberry preserve and all the clotted cream that you might need. How do you layer your scone?

We stick with  1cm (we’re not that specific we just put loads on) of clotted cream layered on first, then topped with strawberry preserve. SO GOOD!

And then the next top tier is the Christmas pastries. You got 4 yummy Christmas themed pastries to choose from. Of course a mince pie was in the selection, as was a mini pecan pie, strawberry flan and Christmas cake. Each cake was great and it was our first ever pecan pie, which tasted fab.

The festive afternoon tea is £18.95 and they do also offer a free from festive afternoon tea if they get 24 hours notice. The afternoon tea is available between 2pm and 5pm.

Hands up if you’re going to book this for an afternoon with the girls?
