Tie dye fun at home
We’re absolutely loving tie dye right now, but every time we see something we want, it sells out before we’ve managed to put our bank details in! Sob!
So we decided to order a tie dye kit from Amazon – we ordered this one. We only wanted the pink colour, but we thought we’d get the whole pack as it came with all the other bits that we needed.
Be careful with the pricing of these kits – they are going up pretty fast because they are popular right now.
What else you will need
1/2 cup vinegar
1/2 cup salt
Large bowl/ bucket
water
white item you are dying – we used Primark hoodies
cardboard
Steps
1.Put your gloves on
2. Grab the white item you will be using and rinse with water, then place in bowl or bucket
3. Throw in the vinegar and mix it all about, then leave your white item soaking for 30 mins
4. Ring out your white item and pop it flat on the cardboard
5. Tie your elastic bands to create your desired pattern. We’d suggest googling it so that you can choose the tie dye that you like
6. Now time for your dye – cover your white item with whatever colours you choose and place them where you would like said colour. We were just using pink for this. Remember to cover the other side as well
7. After that is done place the white item in the plastic bag and secure
8. Let your item sit over night
9. Grab your bucket/ bowl again, pour water and the salt into the bucket and then add your white item (take it out of the bag) This sets the dye. Leave for about 5 minutes
10. Take to the sink to rinse out until the water runs clear. Then let it dry.
Et Voila
