We mentioned the launch of Barry M’s no lamp up to 10 day chip free gel nails earlier on in the week (seen here) and we said we’d get back to you after we tried it out ourselves to let you know how we got on . Now that was 2 days a go – they are meant to last “up to 10 days” so you can already imagine which direction this review will be going.
The directions are as follows – add 2 coats of the colour and add one thin coat of the Barry M top coat. You definitely needed to second colour coat as the brush left brush marks on first application, however after the second coat has dried, it looks lovely. Then it’s time to add the top coat, which is meant to set your nails in the same way that gel nails are set – only without the lamp and with UV light. Although for those wondering – we have no idea if that means you can’t paint your nails at night – we’re assuming not.
All coats dried very quickly, which is another bonus. The finish after the top coat was applied was lovely and shining – just like a gel manicure.
So far so good – day 1 no chips just a lovely finish all around – high hopes. Day 2 – bits started chipping off one nail in the latter part of the day, however we still thought that may have just been a one off. Nope – after a shower – chips on at least 2 fingers on each hand.
We should also note – they don’t mention using a bottom coat and because you have to buy their branded top coat, we assumed you wouldn’t need one. You do! Don’t make that mistake.
If you want to try the Sunset collection out for yourself Boots currently have a buy one get one half price offer going on. Get your colour for £4.99 and your top coat for £2.50 – Bargain.
We are going to give this polish another go on Monday – as we will be trying another application and being a bit more careful in the hope that our long lasting nail polish dreams haven’t been shattered.
