Test driving The Royal Oak and Castle
One sunny afternoon, without any reservations, found us starving and looking for a place to eat in the sunshine – not shade – and that is how we ended up at The Royal Oak and Castle.
It was out first time there and to be honest we were only planning to stay for a drink. That was until we saw the menu!!!!!
Rather unsurprisingly we both ordered a burger because neither were ok with getting food envy. We’re not even kidding – it’s a regular occurrence. This burger however, wasn’t just any burger it was a mojito chicken burger.
What is a mojito burger when it’s at home?
A rum marinated chicken breast, served with a lime and mint mayonnaise, tomato & salad, served in a pretzel bun with a side of rustic chips, homemade slaw & finished with beer battered onion rings.
The flavours were incredible. And the chips were some of the best chips that we have ever had. And we really liked that there was added onion rings because they add a little somethin’ somethin’ extra to a burger. Don’t ya think?
It’s also worth mentioning that the beer garden was a lot bigger than we expected. There were loads of tables, all with umbrellas and there was a kids play area.
