If there is one thing that you do this half term with the kids, it’s visit Sharnfold Farm. We didn’t even know that this place existed until a couple of weeks ago when we were searching for pumpkins. IT’S AMAZING! This past Saturday we headed on down, with some stolen children in tow (obviously not really stolen). The weather wasn’t great and it kept hinting at rain, but we ignored that and it’s a good thing we did.
When you arrive you are greeted by a vast amount of oranges and greens. The first thing to catch your eye will be the fantastic pumpkin patch. We have literally never seen anything like it, except in those American movies. Take pictures, try and pick the big ones up and tempt the kids with the promise of getting one before they go home if they behave well.
We had some hungry little pumpkin pickers with us, so it was straight to the cute little cafe for some much needed food, for pumpkin carrying later on.
Then onto the play area. We were having too much fun, that we forgot to take pictures on the swings or going down the slide. No time for pictures.
After a million years on the swings it was time to go for a walk AKA puddle jumping. Possibly the best part. The little ones came appropriately dressed, not too sure about the adults though.
That was some champion puddle jumping right there.
Then it was a hop, skip and a trip (we had a little person down in a puddle) to the pumpkins.
Just look at them all – looking all orangey! You do really need to see this for yourself, it is amazing.
So amazing we had to have our picture taken with them – see what we mean by inappropriately dressed for a FARM.
Then it’s on to some pumpkin picking. The rule here should be if you can carry it you can have it. See what those sneaky adults have done there – pumpkins are heavy – Clever cloggs.
Then onto the amazing shop, full of fresh produce, frozen fruits, Sussex ale, local everything. We were seriously considering making this a weekly trip, it was that good. Mainly because they had Halloween shaped pasta. Yes we are easily pleased!
The only tip that we can give you with this place is bring your wellies. There are lots of muddy puddles just asking for you to splash around in and without wellies you’ll be sorry. If you bring said stolen children and don’t want to get covered in mud – don’t suggest said splashing. We learnt this far too late into the day.
This weekend they are putting on some pumpkin carving for the kids – check out their website here for time and information.
