The most incredible roast dinner at Skylark
We’ve never had a bad roast dinner in Eastbourne, they’ve all been fabulous, but this weeks roast dinner really raised the bar.
We headed on down to Skylark on Grove Road last Sunday to see what their roast offering was about. They have a good selection of roasts to choose from, which are Confit Sussex pork belly, Autumn root vegetables, feta and hazelnut wellington, roast leg of hadlow down venison and a roast garlic and lemon chicken. So a little bit different from the usual offerings.
We opted for the Confit Sussex pork belly and apple sauce roast dinner and then the vegetarian option which was Autumn root vegetable, feta and hazelnut wellington.
First up the roast dinners came out so quickly, which is great news.
Second up IT WAS SOOOOO GOOD.
The pork belly was beautifully presented as you can see in the pictures. The taste was ………. the meat was so tasty and tender, The crispy …. was cooked to perfection. The roast potatoes were lovely and crispy. Thee was all the gravy that you might have needed, Red cabbage which was beautiful and it definitely adds a different type of flavours to a roast dinner which we love. And this roast dinner came with kale – so it was obviously a super healthy roast dinner. Not to mention the yorkshire pudding and cheesey cauliflower, which were delicious.
We like to see that the cheesey cauliflower wasn’t an extra side, it was included in the roast. We actually don’r count it as a roast dinner without cheesey cauliflower anymore. Ha ha.
The vegetarian one was also fantastic. The wellington tasted great. The feta cheese mixed with all the vegetables was lovely and the flavours went really well together. It’s nice to have something a little bit different as a vegetarian option.
We’re just counting down the days till Sunday, so that we can have another one.
