A roast dinner to make your jaw drop
We love this time of year as it’s roast dinner season and that means weekly roast dinner reviews for you all. And the first review of the season is Bibendum. We were absolutely spoilt with the weather last weekend, so we ate our roast dinner outside, which was a first, but it was lovely.
Also it’s not often you’re waiting for your food and your jaw drops when it appears at your table, but that is exactly what happened when the Bibendum roast turned up. It looked incredible.
We ordered the chicken roast dinner and also the vegetarian roast dinner. And the plates were so full, so so full. Also the pictures do not do the yorkshire puddings justice. They were freakin’ huge! The biggest we’d ever seen and we’ve eaten a lotta roast dinners.
The choices of roast dinner available were chicken, beef, pork and the veggie option which was a vegetable filled parcel. We also ordered the cauliflower cheese as a side because EVERY roast dinner should be eaten with a side of cauliflower cheese.
All the roast dinner options all come with roasted garlic potatoes, honey roasted root vegetables, seasonal vegetables, homemade yorkshire pudding and a rich gravy.
As you can tell they love a vegetable or 2 and we loved that about this roast. Some places just don’t put enough veg on the plate and this was a great amount. Also it was the first we’ve ever had a courgette on a roast and it was a great veg choice. The parsnips had so much flavour and there were lots of them and we even loved the carrots.
The chicken was cooked so well it was absolutely delicious every bite was better than the next.
The gravy was AMAZING and there was a perfect amount of it to make sure every single bit of food on the plate had some gravy to be mopped up with.
Now we have to tell you about the cauliflower cheese – it’s pretty epic. The best we have ever tasted. The cheese was so flavoursome and the sauce was delicious and even better when dripped all over the roast. So so so so good! Highly recommend and there is a great amount of cauliflower cheese – they do not scrimp.
All in all we left super full and happy! We’d give the Bibendum roast a 10/10.
