A review of a great 3 course meal at The Farm on Friday Street
The Farm Friday Street: What
If you’ve lived in Eastbourne for longer than a year, you should know where and what The Farm is by now. If you don’t, then book a table immediately. We’d suggest booking a table today – because with the weather going on outside our window right now, we’d much rather be at The Farm sitting by the fire. Read on to find out our 6 reasons you need to visit The Farm.
The Farm Friday Street: Food
The food at The Farm is great, big portions, lots of options and fabulous dishes for Winter hibernating. We suggest that you go for the full three courses, because everything looks so so good. For starters we had the Stuffed Filled Mushroom – which is filled with stilton, tomato and spinach topped with a herb crumb. It was so GOOD. It tasted great and we wanted more – like five more maybe so yummy. Next up was the Smoked Duck Breast and Duck Liver Pate. Normally when it comes to pate, there is never enough bread to accommodate all of the pate eating. That was not the case – there was enough of everything to keep you happy and not too full, so that you could fit in your main meal. Highly recommend giving that starters a taste when you’re next in.
Now onto the mains. It’s pretty hard to pick a main when there is so much on offer on a menu. You don’t want to get food FOMO and there is nothing worse than when the person you’re eating with orders something insane and you were left wishing that, that was yours. So after much deliberation we decided to go for one of the specials – Blade of Beef and also a good old favourite – Bangers and Mash. Lets chat about the Blade of Beef – it comes with fondant potato, baby beetroot and baby carrot with mushroom duxelle and bernaise sauce. This meal is something you need to have in your life. Still craving it now and that was a few weeks a go. It was probably one of the best mains we’ve ever had.
All the flavours and textures together were on point.
Next up we have the trusted Bangers and Mash. Be warned this isn’t for the faint hearted or the not really that hungry people. This is one filling meal that will leave you needing a nap afterwards – not suggested if going for a full three courses. However we do suggest adding the onion rings. Everything you’d expect from bangers and mash and then some. Sausages were great, mash was great onion gravy was great – WINNER.
Lastly the pudding – the most important part isn’t it? We had The Farm’s Death by Chocolate and Vanilla Panna Cotta. Both were as amazing as each other. The flavours were amazing and the Death by Chocolate 100% lived up to the name. High fives to everyone who manages the whole thing after having a staters and a main meal.
The Farm Friday Street: Verdict
The Farm gets a strong 10/10 from us. Great food in a great restaurant. It’s such a lovely atmosphere at this time of year. A great place to stay warm and cosy whilst eating great food. Best place to sit – right by the fire.
