Now, we know that X-Men won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but the X-Men movies are one of our faves, so we obviously had to go to see the new X-Men: Apocalypse movie. And we loved every second of it – SURPRISE! The one thing we do think about Marvel movies is that they, perhaps, go on for a little bit tooooo long, but we know it’s all about the build up, so we’ll let them off. Except this one – by the time it ended it only felt like half an hour had passed by, which was a thumbs up from us.
X-Men Apocalypse takes you right back to where the last one left off, or for those sporadic X-Men movies watchers – way back to the beginning. There is a super mutant roaming the world, who is disgusted with the way people live and decided (as he does each time he rules the world), that the world needs a cleanse (apocalypse) and only the strong will survive. To fight off said super mutant the team need to become the X-Men again to save the day and work together, but with a lack of X-Men that seemed tricky – cue the new, old characters, Jean and Scott to name a few, led by Raven.
They need to help Xavier who is in trouble as the super mutant wants his powers (he snatches mutants bodies, if they have a power that he desires and then steals the powers of the mutant by some sort of body switch). It will also give you a little inside information on how Xavier lost his hair – if we didn’t already know that is, all the X-Men movies have rolled into one.
On a more important note – Wolverine make a little appearance where he meets Jean and Scott and see if you can spot Stan Smith’s cameo.
If this makes absolutely no sense to you then you should go and see the movie – we can guarantee that it’ll be worth it.
