Movie Review: The Secret Life Of Pets

the secret life of pets review
So we love animals – who doesn’t? We also have a pet – dogs to be more exact. So this movie was right up our street. Was it any good? Yes! It was brilliant. We thought it would be mostly about dogs, but it wasn’t, it had soooo many animals – cats, bunnies, snakes, crocodiles – the bunny kinda stole the show.

It really is such a great movie for all the family. As the title would suggest it’s about the secret lives of pets – what they get up to once the owner leaves the house for the day for work. We have a cat that fights with himself over whether or not he should eat the cooked turkey in the fridge. A small type house bird who turns on the fan, then turns on the tele to a flying show and pretend his flying high in the sky with the wind in his feathers. The main man dog being Max – the loveable terrier, who has to deal with his owner bringing home a big scary dog – Duke, that she found in the shelter. If you have 2 dogs, you might shed a tear or laugh. We had a couple ah ha moments like – oh that’s how Oreo (first dog) felt when I brought Sugar (second dog) home.

Max and Duke are not friends, but there dislike for each other takes them on an unexpected journey around the city. They get captured, thrown into a cage in the back of a van, that crashes, thanks to a hoop wearing pig a bunny and an animal we can’t quite remember they are saved, but have to join a gang. A gang of human haters, led by a teeny tiny bunny and done fanged very very large snake!

The movie is absolutely hilarious all throughout – a great one for the whole family and even more so when you’re thinking about your own pets being in the same scenario. I mean who doesn’t think a poodle head bangs to rock music all day and that a sausage dog loves a massage by a kitchen aid. Genius!

As dog  owners it made us love our dogs even more – if that was even possible – and we hurried home to give them a big squeeze and lots of love. This movie is a  MUST see.
