Movie Review: The Huntsman – Winter’s War

We will definitely go and see any movie that starts Chris Hemsworth, we looooooooove him and luckily for us, he usually does some pretty awesome movies. Now we 100% suggest that you watch Snow White and the Huntsman before going, so that you can recap on all the random goings on, who’s who, what was the Huntsman doing at the end of the last movie and what happened to Snow White. Once you have done that you are good to go.

Now onto the movie – i’m sure we can describe this movie as a prequel and a sequel all in one as it’s a good 50/50 as to how the story starts and how it ends. You will understand when you go to see it. The cast is fabulous and they all seem to gel well together. The idea for the story is ever so slightly Frozen, but entirely different at the same time – there is an ice queen after all.

It all kicks off when Queen Freya (Emily Blunt) is betrayed by her lover and in that one moment she switches on her magic, that hadn’t worked until she felt all the pain from that betrayal. Next up she decides to leave her home and find another kingdom to raise an army of children (Huntsmen), because what else would you do when you’ve had your heart broken?! She conquers villages, kingdoms and steals all the kids, training them from that day on to become an undefeated army. The only rule she has in exchange for her gift of bettering their lives is that you must not ever love! Love is forbidden. If you fall in love you have betrayed her and are cast away from the kingdom or imprisoned. So we bet you can guess what has happened.

Then we have the return of the ever so scary Ravenna  (Charlize Theron), previously trapped in the magic mirror until poof she is released. All sorts of havoc ensues, until some hero comes along, saves the day, gets his lady and lives happily ever after.

If you liked the first movie you have to go and see this one. It’s much better, in our opinion.
