Movie Review: Sully

movie-review-of-sully-starring-tom-hanks
For those of you not in the know about Sully – do you remember a plane having to emergency land in the Hudson River? Both engines were killed by birds and they couldn’t make it back to any airports in time? Miraculously everyone survived! Well that happened way back in 2009 (Seems like only last year). And what we were probably not aware of was the aftermath of those actions to the pilot. To the world he was a hero, but behind the scenes he was being blamed for his actions and no one believed that both the engines had blown.

The main reason for watching this movie was for because Tom Hanks starred as Sully and you never miss a Tom Hanks movie and he was great in it.

Sully is the pilot who was in charge of the plane that day. Three minutes into the flight a flock of birds struck the plane and blocked/ stopped/ killed both engines, meaning they had to make an emergency landing in the Hudson River. Sully is hailed a hero – doing the impossible – landing a plane in water – in one piece – however suffers from PTSD after the incident.

As all plane crashes – a full investigation takes place and the airline are looking to blame someone – die to insurance purposes – that someone being Sully. Sully believes that he did the right thing and with both engines being down – he would not have made it to any other airport (No one believed that both engines were down – only the one). After numerous pilot tests and investigations the investigation claims that Sully made a stupid decision and he could have made it to either airports – so the blame is on him. Sully has to prove that he was in fact right and that both the engines were down.

We won’t tell you anymore – but it really is a great movie – definitely worth going to watch! 4/5 from us!
