Movie review: Promising Young Woman
Carrie (Casey Mulligan) spends her evenings pretending to get drunk, picking up men, or rather letting men pretend to be a knight in shining armour, take her home and then seeing if they try to take advantage of her. And that is when she lets them know that she is in fact not drunk and it was a set up.
Carrie had a promising career ahead of her whilst training to be a doctor, but something traumatic happened to her that left her dropping out of school. And of course, the story then unravels. The movie covers a very serious topic, one which is prevalent in todays society and something that needs to be addressed. However the movie manages to cover this in a funny kind of way.
The ending will literally leave you guessing …. honestly you won’t expect it at all.
