Movie review of Dora and the Lost City of Gold
We are not from generation Dora the explorer, so this was not a nostalgic trip for us, in fact we have never seen Dora. Instead we were really intrigued by the trailer and hoped it would be like National Treasure – which it wasn’t – but we still enjoyed it none the less.
The movie see’s Dora growing up in the jungle and then her professor/ explorer parents decided to send her to The City (AKA Los Angeles), whilst they are off trying to discover the lost Parapata. Dora head off to The City and tries to navigate high school, where she doesn’t necessarily fit in and she doesn’t try to. She insists on being herself and nothing else.
On a school trip to a museum Dora, her cousin and 2 other kids from the same school are captured only to find themselves in the jungle.
From there you follow Dora and the other kiddos try to find their way safely through The Jungle to try and rescue Dora’s parents.
Lots of adventure, a song about poop, smart girls and so much more.
We would have said that the movie was a bit old for the kids that it was aimed at – however we took a 5 year old with us and she loved every single minute of it. Especially the best friend monkey named Boots and also the naughty fox.
