We obviously had high hopes for Independence Day, mainly because it’s been so long since the last one that we thought it has to be good to do another one after such a long time. Also it had Liam Hemsworth in and a lot of the previous that survived the last disaster were in – surely they wouldn’t have signed up if the script wasn’t good! Surely!!! Well …….. we’re sad to say that it was a little bit disappointing, but what did we expect? A sequel is never as good as the first.
Now back to the story – you get a quick recap, you find out where Will Smith actually is and that point you should realise that there is a reason he didn’t sign up to do this movie. Ha! However his son is introduced as an air force pilot – of course. Jeff Goldburg, Bill Pullman and Jim Broadbent make a return to coordinate the resistnace and make some witty one liners. Liam Hemsworth is the eye candy and that is about that. You know the rest of the story – aliens – workd destruction, save the world – ta da!
There was something missing throughout the whole movie. There was no real intense moments, you knew they would fail the whole time and you always knew what was coming. There was no intensity at all.
Having said that it was full of cheap laughs, which were the best part about the movie and worth the watch if you like that kind of thing.
