You just know that any movie with Rebel Wilson and Leslie Mann in, it’s going to be funny. And funny it was. As you can imagine from the title ‘How to be Single’ it does focus on the single side of things following Dakota Johnson who plays Alice.
Alice wants to go on a “break” from her boyfriend of 4 years so she can find herself.
This takes her to New York when she meets Robin (Rebel Wilson) who turns out to be her NYC Single Tour Guide. Which means never paying for drinks, text etiquette (never send emojis). Almost prudish Alice doesn’t take long to get into the swing of things – 2 1/2 drinks if memory serves us well. Which leads the way to good looking bar tender Tom. Tom goes with anyone for non committal 1 nighters. Tom doesn’t do sleep overs and to make sure no girl would EVER stay at his place, he’s turned off the water in his flat. Which leads us to another type of singleton – Lucy. Lucy has set up an online dating site algorithm to get rid of all the riff raff. And somewhere along the line Alice’s sister decides to use a sperm donor to have a baby and then poof just like magic she meets the love of her life. There are a few other side stories to follow though out and all are nicely wrapped up by the end.
This movie was brilliant and well worth the watch – so grab the girls – leave the bf at home and enjoy some girly giggles.
