How we kicked off the Christmas season at The lamb Inn in Hooe
Last Friday we went to our first Christmas get together at The Lamb Inn in Hooe. We were invited to taste their Christmas menu in the form of canapés and also drink some prosecco.
It was a really great evening with some fantastic food, which really got us in the festive spirit, albeit a bit too early for some. Not us, if we were allowed we’d have the Christmas decs up already.
The food was absolutely delicious, so we thought we’d tell you all about it. The canapés that did the rounds were as follows –
Asparagus parcels on a tomatade sauce, topped with omega sprinkles.
Duck & port parfait served on a vegan rustic roll with a cumberland sauce base topped with pea shoots.
Prawn and avocado cocktail served on baby gem lettuce.
Those were the starters and the fave had to be the duck and port parfait. We could have eaten about 20 of those. The Asparagus parcels were also fab and we loved all the flavours together. We were a table of non prawn eaters, so we can’t tell you how those were as we didn’t eat them.
Boneless rib beef served on truffle oil mashed potato and quenelle topped with beef jus.
Slow cooked pork belly served on an apple compote
Hand carved turkey breast served in a yorkshire pudding. Accompanied with a sausage duvet and cranberry sauce.
Out of the mains the beef was hands down the best – the mash was absolutely incredible. It must have been the truffle oil. Closely followed by the turkey and then the pork belly.
Belgian chocolate brownie served with Irish liquor ice cream
Christmas pudding drizzled with brandy sauce
Both of the puddings were fab and we would order one of each of we went back for more.
