Come on everyone, hands up if you’ve already failed on your 2015 resolutions?! Don’t panic, it doesn’t make you a failure, you can just start again, however the issue is sticking with it. Here are a few tips that help us stick to our goals.
Be Realistic
If you make massive resolutions such as loose weight, give up smoking and buy a Mercedes, you are most probably setting yourself up to fail. They are all, of course, obtainable , but steps are needed to make these happen. Take loosing weight, eating more healthily and working out are whats going to get you where you want. So maybe a goal to live a healthy lifestyle may be more practical.
Write Your Goals Down
You can see from this post here, that we have decided to write down our resolutions this year and frame them. The aim – to be more committed to achieving them, so it is in your mind each and every day and again to help you take the correct steps to where you want to be.
Make Targets
This one is pretty obvious and as the saying goes you have to crawl before you learn to walk. With this you can write down the big goal and make mini goals that are stepping stones to your MAIN goal. We learnt this while at university and compiling our dissertations. Take little bites from the biscuit instead of all at once. Makes sense right? Baby steps.
Review Them
At the end of each month, have a sit down and see how far you’ve come. If things haven’t changed, you may need to re-access. It might just be a bump in the road or you may just not be working hard enough. It’s better to know sooner rather than later.
Inspiration Boards
If you’re a visual person, you may find making an inspiration board of your end goals helps. For example, if you want to buy a house, pin the house to your board. If you want to drive a BMW, print the picture and stick it to your board. You get the idea.
Keep A Diary
Much the same as reviewing them each month, but keeping a closer eye on your goals. At the end of each week, grab a notebook and see what you’ve accomplished. It may simply be that you’ve lost a couple of lbs or that you only had the one cigarette in a whole week. It also gives you a bit of an extra push to stick to it, if you can see it working.
We hope these tips help you out. We’re doing our vision boards as you read.
