How to stay cool at night
This post was brought to you by last nights sleepless night because it was so freakin’ warm. First up we are absolutely 100% not complaining about the most amazing weather that we are having right now. There is nothing better than stepping outside in the morning to have the warm sun beaming down on your face – NOTHING! However we just wish the evenings were a little bit cooler. Ya know so we can sleep with a duvet and be safe from feet grabbing monsters.
Last night was a sleeping on the sofa kinda of night as that is downstairs and slightly cooler – not by much – but a bit. It was a rubbish nights sleep – so tonight we’r going to be prepared!
1.Morning Planing
Keep those windows and blinds shut throughout the day. This in theory should keep out the heat and then when the sun goes down you can open your windows and sleep with them open all night.
2. PJs
Pjs are not the one for us right now! But if you can’t sleep without wearing them, make sure that they are cotton PJs. Apparently cotton PJs are breathable.
3. Cool shower
Have a shower just before bedtime – obviously make it a cool shower and not a warm one. We’re going to bed with wet hair right now. Unsure if that actually cools you down or not, but it feels like it does.
4. Minimise Alcohol
Stay away from alcohol if you can as that increases your body temp. We feel like this one is a last resort because – sunshine and frose go hand in hand right?
5.Water Spray
Currently on our bedside tables is a water spray. Just a spray bottle with water. And if it is exceptionally hot we use it to spray face, wrists and also feet!
6. Cool Mats
We’re not gonna lie, but our dogs have cool mats, which are a great idea. And then it gave us the idea to go and get one for ourselves and use it on top of our pillows before we go to sleep. It only works or a short while, but that might just be enough to get yourself to sleep.
7.Ice
If you happen to have a fan and find that it just spreads the hot air around – place a bowl of ice in-front of the fan which will then circulate cooler air.
