How to celebrate birthdays in lockdown
Birthdays are going to be weird for a while now. We can’t go to the pub to toast your old age, we can’t have a birthday meal to celebrate, even giving pressies is going to be a tricky one.
So here are a few ways that you can celebrate your birthdays, until the world gets back to normal.
1. Organise a birthday zoom party. This gets more annoying the more people are in it, but it’s a great way to chat with all your friends and have a drink with them all. Even better – if you all have random decorations in the house, pop them up, get some balloons involved.
2. Send them a birthday cake via a local cake maker who is open and available with deliveries.
3. Everyone loves wine, alcohol, anything, so call your local wine delivery such as Levels Wine and get them to make a pit stop for the birthday girl or boy.
4. Send them some flowers to let them know that you are thinking of them, even if you can’t see them.
5. If you can – send a pressie – online retailers are still open – for now – but order earlier than previous. We’ve noticed deliveries are taking up to 2 weeks instead of a couple of days.
6. Do you remember when we all used to wish someone Happy Birthday on Facebook? Yea – do that! It still exists and could mean a lot to someone on their birthday.
7. If you can, maybe buy them a gift card so that they can get their favourite take out delivered.
8. At the very least – text them.
Let’s party like it’s 2020!
