What do we love? Burgers – you should all know this by now. We love the fact that Eastbourne has a couple of burger places, worth visiting and worth talking about. Especially when they have something for everyone – the boring cheese burger people – that’s us – or the tower burger people – also us. And we also love sides – we’ll take all the sides all the time. Eyes bigger than bellies anyone? We’re excited for the Eastbourne burger scene – is that even a thing? We’ll make it a thing.
The burger place in question today is Half Man Half Burger, which came to Eastbourne late last year. It made quite a stir, we know anything new in Eastbourne does, but ya know, burgers! You’ll find Half Man Half Burger half way up on Grove Road at number 43.
Half Man Half Burger: The Food
Sides make us happy and Half Man Half Burger has some fab sides. The sides in question are the beef chilli cheese fries – be warned there’s a lot of fries on that plate, so maybe share. Next up – which is a Half Man Half Burger must – the Devil’s Fingers – which to you and me are – deep fried halloumi served with your choice of dip. Dip choices being – chipotle mayo, chipotle ketchup, memphis screamin’ whiskey BBQ sauce, bbq mayo and hot sauce. We suggest the whiskey bbq sauce. You will love it. In fact it should be a mandatory thing.
Now lets talk burgers – the burgers come with 2 patties, don’t let that put you off though ladies, the patties are pretty thin and you’ll 100% be able to finish it without bursting your jeans. Also they come with the perfect burger buns, we take that seriously. We opted for The Big Cheese and the Guest Burger – The Tennessee Three. The big cheese is your run of the mill cheese burger – was yummy – although next time we’ll be up grading to the flamin’ big cheese. The Tennessee three includes three meats – hence the name. Two beef patties, dry cured smoked bacon and southern fried chicken skin, American cheese and ranch dressing. This was huge, but polished off pretty quickly. You have to try them.
We’ve also heard that they do insane puddings, but we couldn’t fit anymore in. Let us know if you give them a try.
Half Man Half Burger: The Verdict
We always see people commenting on FB about whether or not Eastbourne needs more burger places and we always say YES! It’s always fantastic to see new businesses enter the town and to see them do so well. Half Man Half Burger is a great addition.
We’re pretty excited that they are now open seven days a week and also that they do take out. We’ll 100% be back for some more halloumi and to test the rest of the menu out. And to try out the dessert menu, we might start with that next time as we’ll always find space for a burger at the end.
