First there was Brad and Angelina’s Miraval, then came Kylie’s rosé… but how about a celebrity wine from an actual wine connoisseur?! Introducing Fred Sirieix’s first-ever bottle – his 2022 Beaujolais Nouveau, available exclusively at M&S for just £8.
Using his 30 years’ experience in food and wine in both France and London, Fred has chosen a blend by local Beaujolais winemaker Sylvie Ravier and M&S winemaker Sue Daniels made with the Beaujolais region’s traditional grape variety, Gamay, which gives this light and fruity red wine lots of juicy flavours of cherries and strawberries.
And of course it wouldn’t be Fred’s wine if it didn’t also go well with food! This Beaujolais Nouveau is the perfect partner for charcuterie – why not try with saucisson, pâté and a good crusty baguette with butter? It’s delicious with cold chicken or turkey too, making it an ideal choice for Christmas Day (or Thanksgiving!) leftovers. Unusually for red wines you can also lightly chill Beaujolais Nouveau – give it 30 minutes in the fridge for a refreshing glass of red that can be enjoyed on its own.
Produced just after the year’s grapes have been harvested, Beaujolais Nouveau is the first wine of the new season and is officially released in France on ‘Beaujolais Day’ – the third Thursday in November – with fireworks, music and festivals. Under French law the wine cannot be released any earlier than 00:01am on that Thursday.

Fred shared the news with his 823,000 Instagram followers, who were quick to congratulate him with excited comments such as “Cannot wait to try this!”, “Looking forward to giving this a go!” and “Will def try this one as love a Beaujolais!”
The TV star became M&S’s official wine ambassador back in 2020 and each month recommends his favourite wines that customers can discover in store and online along with his tasting notes and food pairing suggestions, thereby taking the mystery out of finding the perfect bottle. Fred recently published his third book, Wine Uncorked: My guide to the world of wine, which offers invaluable advice to wine lovers and novices alike on how to choose a bottle for its taste, rather than simply by its packaging or price.
Fred’s Beaujolais Nouveau is exclusively available to buy in M&S stores and on the M&S website from Thursday 17th November for just £8 a bottle. But be quick – once it’s gone, it’s gone!
