Film Review: Instant Family

Film review of Instant Family

What is it about?
Mark Wahlberg and Rose Byrne are a successful married couple, who feel like something is missing in their lives and they just don’t know what. After Pete (Mark Wahlberg) makes a joke suggestion about adopting a 5 year old, Ellie (Rose Byrne), goes into research mode and finds out how they can adopt and just how many kids need help. This, then starts their journey which they struggle with, overcome obstacles, deal with the foster kids Mum and all the trails and tribulations that come up.

What we thought
We absolutely loved it. It was so funny, without being too funny and heart warming at the same time. Although the movie was about adoption and it seemed to also be sponsored/highlighted by an American adoption company, it wasn’t glamorised in any way shape or form. They highlighted the hard parts of taking on another persons child, but they also showed how rewarding it could actually be. Mark Wahlberg and Rose Byrne were the perfect actors for this movie and they did so well with bringing out the comedy factors of it all and showing how they grew as adoptive parents.

Where you can watch it
It is currently showing at Cineworld this week.
