It’s British pie week this week, so why not head on down to The Lamb Inn in Hooe
The Lamb Inn in Hooe: What
We took a trip down to The Lamb Inn in January to check out their newly revamped bar and restaurant area and to give the new menu a little taste.
It is also worth mentioning as it is British pie week and also a Wednesday – The Lamb Inn do a Pie Wednesday where they have 6 pies available each week to choose from. Soooooo it’s the perfect place to celebrate.
The Lamb Inn in Hooe: Food
Lets talk about the starters – we went for what we wouldn’t normally go for this time in the name of research – no chees, garlic bread or pate in sight. Instead we opted for chargrilled lamb koftas which comes with tzatziki and dressed slaw.
This starters was probably the best thing we have ever had! We could have happily doubled up on the lamb for a main meal. So tasty.
Next up was the black pear scallops seared with black pudding and served on minted pea puree with crispy bacon. They were full of flavour and we can definitely recommend.
As you can see from the title we had pie and the pie in question was the chicken a thyme pie. The pie was served with in a creamy chenin blanc sauce, topped with puff pastry, served with spring onion mash and seasonal vegetables.
The pastry was perfect and flaky, the chicken was melt in your mouth chicken and the chips were so good. We can definitely recommend that one, if you’re heading down there soon.
We also ordered the venison steak which was served with a spinach stuffed portobello mushroom, asparagus, dauphinoise potato and a red wine jus. If your don’t order this and your friend does, you will get seriously food envy. It smells absolutely delicious. So you have been warmed.
And as always they save the best till last – the pudding. The last two times we have gone for the pudding tasting platter because we like a mixture and can never decide on just the one pudding. The pudding platter at the moment includes Belgian chocolate brownie topped with vanilla ice cream, Melba mallow mess, vanilla crème brûlée and bourbon pecan pie with home-baked butter biscuits. It’s also really great value for money.
The Lamb Inn in Hooe: Drink
They have a huge range of drinks on offer at really great prices. A large range of ales are available as well as our favourite Freixenet . They also have a great range of non alcoholic cider, wine and beer and they have a softail menu for those wanting more that just a coke.
The Lamn Inn in Hooe: Verdict
Another lovely evening at The Lamb Inn. A great new menu, everything tasted so so good. The staff were very friendly and knew about the menu. We got to sit by the fire in the restaurant area, which is great at the time of year. And they still have a sharing using platter on the menu which gets a huge 10/10 from us.
They also have a Mother’s Day menu available for Sunday, which you can see here.
