Behind the scenes with the new owners of The Farm
Hands up if you were devastated when you heard that The Farm had closed down!? We were, we only live round the corner and we were sad that we wouldn’t be able to sit by the fire anymore or sip a G&T in the garden.
And hands up if you were ecstatic to hear that it had been saved and would be reopening when lockdown is over? Yup same here.
So we thought that we’d have a chat with the Managing Director of Revived Inns, who are the new owners, to find out what they have in store for Eastbourne, when they open.
Revived took over The Farm during the pandemic and we have only just completed on the purchase and have not yet traded the pub, but we look forward to doing so as soon as possible. During the acquisition there was also interest from some of the large pub groups, so we are pleased that we eventually were successful.
There haven’t been too many surprises, we have so far had to install a new central heating boiler, which was done by al local plumber – Joe Forward, and we’ve also had to repair several leaks to the roof.
The Farm has had a freshen up. We have had to make several changes for preparation under Covid rules but the general feel and theme of the pub remains as it was, just with a freshen up. The Kitchen has been overhauled and we have installed new equipment.
We have run a recruitment campaign and several of the old team have been recruited for roles including chefs and waiting staff. We also have a new apprentice starting with us. As we reopen after Covid there will be further vacancies and we will advertise those through local social media platforms.
The response from locals has been fantastic! Stay tuned on social media! We have also received some lovely emails and letters thanking us.
Our chefs have come up with a typical weekly menu which can now be seen on the new website (click here) – it is very similar to the menu before. We believe in proper pub food, with a twist. There will also be fresh daily specials.
We have strong links with a local butchers and local vineyard, so you can look forward to some excellent award winning english wines at affordable prices.
We will of course have beers from local brewers like Harvey’s and Long man, but also from further afield. The draught range will include Pravha, Carling, Aspals Cider, Guinness and Staropramen. Our wine list will include many from Bluebell Vineyard including Bacchus, Merlot and Rose. Also sparkling wines. Our gin range will be extensive!
We want our guests to feel safe and welcome on their arrival, and have a marvellous time while in our hospitality. Service is so important to us and we hope your readers will agree.
We hope to open before the end of May!
