A Must Eat Roast Dinner At The Crown And Anchor

A must eat roast dinner at The Crown and Anchor

We’ve got one amazing roast dinner review for you guys this week and when we say amazing we mean AH.MA.ZING.

We don’t know what they do to the roast dinner at The Crown & Anchor, but it’s some sort of roast dinner hocus pocus for sure.

We’ve had a lot of roast dinners in our food tasting careers and there are flavours in this Crown and Anchor roast that we didn’t even know existed in a roast dinner. We are massive advocates of having a little bit of everything on your fork (we know advocates is a little bit dramatic for food eating), but it’s the best way to eat a roast. Bit of stuffing, bit of meat, bit of cheesey veggie goodness in every single bite. Honestly every single taste was better than the next.

We opted for the free range crispy belly pork roast and also the homemade nutroast option for vegetarians and vegans. If you didn’t know The Crown and Anchor have a huge vegan menu – which you can check out here.

This crispy pork belly was a roast dinner first for us – obviously we’ve led a sheltered life. It was so delicious and cooked to perfection. This was served with applesauce, which was also a first for us as we put cranberry sauce over everything. chicken – cranberry, beef – cranberry, lamb – cranberry, beef – cranberry, you get the gist. The applesauce was so good it made the roast dinner even better.

Now onto the nutroast – this one was demolished very very quickly. Literally in the blink of an eye – gone. Was there even a nutroast there – we’re not sure. ** insert laughing emojis here ** It was so delicious and very cake like, which was great.

The roast potatoes were HUGE and cooked to absolute perfection – not too crispy and in no way shape or form under cooked. The stuffing tasted incredible and there was so much gravy – which is a must or us. The potato mash was so so so good! Ask for half and half on the potato situation if you fancy roasties and the mash.

The only thing that the roast dinner didn’t have was the yorkshire pudding, which is a nice roast dinner bonus, but if we’re honest we didn’t even miss it. GASP!

This roast dinner just left us wanting more, which is a mean feat when it comes to roast dinners as we usually leave feeling perfectly stuffed and needing a nap. This Crown and Anchor roast however, we just didn’t want it to end. Still dreaming about it now.

The other roasts available are Sussex grass fed roast beef, Corn fed, free range half roast chicken and slow roasted Sussex lamb shank.

Also for the parents out there – they have a kids size roast dinner available at £3.95, which is an absolute bargain.

And then on to the last and best event – the chocolate torte. Completely everything free and vegan – this was delicious. Definitely worth trying when you go.
