We know not everyone gets as excited by Christmas as we do, so with that in mind we thought we’d share with you 9 things that always keep us in the festive cheer. Even if we think we’re all Christmased out, we go back to these positive to get us in the festive mood and we start all over again.
1. Decorate for Christmas
Go all out – We can’t tell you how happy it makes us to look at the gingerbread house candle on the window sill or the Christmas tree downstairs, tinsel in random places and reindeers all over the place. Not to mention the 4 trees that we put up this year.
2. Decorate a gingerbread house
Not something we had ever done until this year. Tesco have a fab little gingerbread house kit – so make sure you get yourself down there and pick one up and decorate away! And even better – you get to eat it all afterwards.
3. Christmas PJs
We wear Christmas PJs all throughout December – we’ve found some fantastically priced ones from Primark and also Sainsburys. Add a pair of festive socks – we went for Tesco’s reindeer socks – and you’re all set.
4. Christmas Movies
If you wake up in a bad mood – we 100% popping on some Netflix whilst getting ready for work and choosing a really cheesy Christmas movie – they have so many Hallmark channel Christmas movies that you’re spoilt for choice. This morning we went for Beethoven’s Christmas Adventure, which did the trick. Stupid Christmas fun!
5. Christmas hot chocolate with all the trimmings
We’re talking sprinkles, crumbled up flake, whipped cream, marshmallows, mini gingerbread men trimmings. Not only does this put a huge smile on our faces it so so so so good! Plus in the evenings we may or may not add a shot of Baileys into the mix.
6. Blare out Christmas music
We’ve been doing this all weekend – mainly with the Mariah Carey Christmas album, but also a bit of Michael Buble thrown in for good festive measure.
7. Put fairy lights everywhere
This one kind of coincides with number one, but we’re serious. Gran some batteries – head to Asda and buy up all the battery operated lights that you can find. Hang them on mirrors, windows, beds, bannisters, pop in vases, be creative and make your home all sparkly.
8. Go to at least one Christmas Market
This is a must! Christmas markets are full of excitement and most importantly you can get yummy food and mulled wine.
Drive all around you neighbourhood, listening to your favourite Christmas music and having a look at the Christmas lights around the neighbourhood.
