As mentioned a million times before – this is 100% one of our favourite times of the year – it’s the 3 month lead up to Christmas, it’s the start of the beautiful Autumn weather and then we have Halloween obviously. So what more of a perfect excuse for a movie night all cuddled up on the sofa. We’ve compiled a list of our favourite Halloween movies (for the wimps), so there is something for everyone and the whole family can enjoy.
The Nightmare Before Christmas
Is it a Halloween movie, is it a Christmas movie – we’ll never really know. We find this movie in particular creepy as, but we watched this as kiddos, so it’s not really that bad.
Halloween Town
We told you this was a Halloween list for wimps didn’t we – we’ll don another one for scary as movies later on in the month. Halloween town is so much fun to watch. Witches, pumpkins, magic, Halloween, a big disaster, everyone saves the day, et voila and one big happy ending.
Hocus Pocus
Now we couldn’t have a Halloween movie top 10 without adding Hocus Pocus on it could we? The best Halloween movie ever is you ask us, we love it sooooooooo much we also watch it when it’s not Halloween. Super excited for this, we’ve got it on this weekends to do list.
Practical Magic
Witches at their best! If you haven’t watched this you are seriously missing out. Such a great movie and as we can never ever remember the ending it’s just like seeing it for the first time every single year. Last year, we watched this on Amazon Prime – if anyone else wanted to watch it also – you can do it on that.
Harry Potter
This isn’t necessarily a Halloween movie, but it has witches and wizards, ghosts and magical creatures, so it’s good enough for us. We won’t be watching all of them this Halloween, but we’ll start watching one every single week, because it’s a bit of a Christmas lead up tradition.
The Addams Family
No description needed for this one – go and watch it – still as good as the first time .
Casper
How could we forget this CASPER. Such an old old movie – like many of them on this list, but it never ever gets old EVER. Perfect for a rainy Sunday afternoon. We might even watch it this afternoon, we know it’s not sunny, but we love this movie.
Corpse Bride
We’ve never actually watched this movie as we didn’t like The Nighmare before Christmas and it’s made by the same person – Tim Burton. So we might just make this the new Halloween movie to watch this year. Also Johnny Depp is a voice in the movie, so it’s sure to be good
Hotel Transylvania
Another one we haven’t seen and also didn’t know existed. It’s an animated movie about Dracula who is bringing up his daughter alone after he looses his wife to a torch wielding mob.
ParaNorman
This is another one that we don’t know about – how is this eve possible. ParaNorman is about Halloween, zombies, tombes, witches and kids who see dead people.
The Witches
Completely 100% forgot about this one – but The Witches absolutely must be on the Halloween movies to watch for the wimps. What better time to watch this Roald Dahl classic and to scare the little ones into never talking to strangers.
